Loving our Community
Jesus said "Love God with all your heart and love your neighbour as yourself. There are no commandments greater.”
We love The Boldons, the community and the people and we believe God loves Boldon too. In lots of ways we work to show God's love in our community. We're always open to new ideas, but here are some of the ways we love The Boldons.
We Support Local Enterprise
Our Totally Locally Markets have supported over 50 independent traders, giving them an opportunity to sell their products. For some people this has been their first toe in the water in setting up their own business.
The markets have been a great way to support our local economy and show hospitality.
We take care of our Green Spaces
Taking care of the environment and the places we live is a key part of living out our Christian faith.
We get involved in local litter picks around West Boldon and Colliery Woods. We also take care of the grounds of our church yards, making sure they are safe and welcoming places.
We Value our Schools
Within our Benefice we have a number of schools and nurseries. We value all they do to help grow our young people.
Members of our church sit on school governing bodies and play a part in the life of our schools. We created and delivered beautiful hampers with letters of encouragement to all our schools and nurseries during the pandemic to say thank you for everything they have done for our young people.
We work in Partnership
We believe it is very important to work in partnership with others if we want to make the biggest difference in our communities. This is why we work with statutory authorities, charities, local community groups and local businesses.
We believe the church sits at the heart of our community and we aim to show love to all regardless of background or beliefs.
We support vulnerable people
We are partners of Key2Life food bank and regularly raise money to support their fantastic work providing services and practicle support to the most vulnerable in our communities.
All of our churches are donation drop off points for the Foodbank and we hold a harvest appeal once a year too.
We look beyond Boldon
We work to love our neighbour in The Boldons, but we also believe it is important that we reach out and love our global neighbour too.
We support the work of Christian and hold fundraising events, take time to educate ourselves about world issues, such as climate change and regularly pray for our world.
