Baptism in the Boldons
Baptism is a special and joyful occasion where we celebrate God’s love and welcome a person into His family. It is a sign of belonging to the Christian faith and a commitment to walk in God’s way.
In baptism, we are reminded of God’s promise of love, forgiveness, and new life. It marks the beginning of a journey of faith, supported by the church and the wider Christian community. We would love to welcome you into one of our churches for this special occasion.
Child baptism
Your child is precious to you and precious to God. You want the very best for them, you want them to make right choices in life, for themselves and for others - and so does God. For babies and young children, baptism is a moment where parents and godparents make promises on their behalf to guide them in faith.
Adult baptism
For older children and adults, baptism is a personal step of commitment to following Jesus.
If you were baptized as a baby, you may wish to affirm your faith through Confirmation. Confirmation is a special service where you publicly affirm the promises made on your behalf at baptism and receive the prayers of the church and the blessing of the Bishop. It is a way of deepening your faith and stepping forward in your journey with God.
How to book a baptism in The Boldons
Complete a booking form
To book a baptism, we ask that you come along to either Messy Church or Little Angels Toddler Group, where you will complete a booking form, choose your preferred date and church for the service to take place and book onto a baptism preparation session.
Attend a Baptism preparation session
You will then need to attend a preparation session. These sessions happen throughout the year and you’ll need to attend in advance of the baptism. You are welcome to bring along Godparents/Sponsors too.
These sessions, which last for one hour, are an important step in preparing for this special occasion, giving you the opportunity to learn more about baptism and what it means for you and your family.
The date and time of the baptism will be confirmed at this preparation session.
When can a baptism happen?
Baptisms take place on certain Sundays at 12 noon. We always try to find a date that works for you and your guests. Baptisms can also take place as part of our regular church services if you are a part of that worshipping community.
